Honey sesame rice bars

Honey sesame rice bars

A Base Kids' twist on LCM/ Rice Bubble bars

With just a handful of pantry staples, these bars come together in minutes and they’re perfect for lunchboxes, after-school snacks, or weekend baking with the kids.

You can boost the nutrition by adding Base Kids, an easy way to support fussy eaters while still keeping snack time fun.

Why make them at home?

Unlike many store-bought cereal bars that contain long ingredient lists, this recipe keeps things simple with just 5 ingredients.

The toasted sesame seeds add a subtle nutty flavour plus healthy fats and minerals, making these even more nourishing.

How to add Base Kids

To increase the nutritional value, simply add 4–8 scoops of Base Kids when you mix the Rice Bubbles and sesame seeds in the bowl.

Stir the powder through the dry ingredients first to help distribute it or pour over the melted honey (or marshmallow) mixture and then add Base Kids.

Because the mixture is thick and sticky, the powder blends in beautifully without affecting texture or taste.

Marshmallow vs honey version

You can choose between:

  • Honey & brown sugar: slightly firmer, caramel-like flavour
  • Marshmallow version : softer, chewier texture (more like traditional LCM-style bars)

Both work well with added Base Kids.

Storage Tips

  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week
  • Can be frozen and thawed as needed
  • Slice into bars or squares depending on lunchbox size

Simple. Budget-friendly. Lunchbox-approved. Boost with Base Kids for an easy nutritional win.
