FAQs
Is Base Kids truly unflavoured?
Every palate is different, some kids are "super tasters" and may notice even the slightest change to a food or drink. That's why we've worked closely with food scientists to make Base as unflavoured and taste-neutral as possible, with no added flavours. Our goal is a product that works for as many kids and palates as possible.
Most families find that Base blends easily into foods their child already eats, without changing the taste. That said, we always encourage involving kids in adding Base themselves where possible, it's a great way to help them understand that it's there to support their nutrition while they're still growing and learning.
Does Base Kids contain any added flavours, colours or sweeteners?
Base Kids is formulated without added flavours, so it stays as neutral as possible and fits into whatever your family is already eating or drinking.
How do I add Base to my child's food?
Base Kids is designed to mix easily into everyday foods and drinks, things like spreads (butter, peanut butter) pasta, yoghurt, smoothies or porridge. Because it's unflavoured, most families don't need to change what they're already cooking. We recommend involving your child in the process where you can, so they start to understand that Base is there to help support their nutrition.
Can Base Kids be added to water, cordial or juice?
You can, but our fibre blend may clump slightly in thin liquids like water, milk and juice. For the best texture, we recommend adding Base to thickened fluids, yoghurts, spreads, or baking instead.
Can I take Everyday and Extra together?
No. Everyday Base and Extra Base are designed to be used one or the other, not both together. Which one is right depends on your child's eating pattern:
Everyday (pink tin) is best suited to kids who generally eat a range of fruits, vegetables and other foods, but go through occasional periods of fussy eating, for example during illness or a temporary picky phase.
Extra (purple tin) is designed for kids who are consistently fussy eaters, and who find it hard to eat a range of fruits, vegetables and meat on an ongoing basis.
If you're not sure which is the better fit for your child, we recommend chatting with your GP, paediatrician or dietitian.
Is Base Kids allergy tested?
Base is currently allergen tested for milk and gluten. We're working to extend our allergy testing panel to include tree nuts, seeds and fruits in the future. If your child has known allergies, we always recommend checking the full ingredient list and speaking with your GP or paediatrician before introducing any new product.
Is Base Kids suitable for fussy eaters?
Yes! Base Kids was created with fussy eaters and developing palates in mind. Because it's unflavoured, it's designed to support nutrition without adding another flavour or texture for kids to navigate.
